Interesting when the cost difference is much greater in Europe.
For example
amazon.co.uk “My Journey” by Tony Blair 12.50 pounds on book order, retail 18 pounds, BUT only 6.99 digital (approx $10.77 ), USA amazon.com $17.99

I am having a difficult time being convinced of ebooks write up on this issue, NOT convincing. Originally the big push on digital books when they first came out was firstly the concerns for the environment and second the projected reduction in cost to the consumer

While I like a good conspiracy theory, I suspect that the reason is somewhat more pedestrian. I’d bet that this comes down to the cost of delivering the content over WhisperNet, for which Amazon currently foots the bill. When it comes to free downloads, the marketing value of better-known authors probably offsets the wireless delivery cost. If it were possible for smaller publishers to cover the expense of distribution, Amazon might be more likely to offer their books for free.

With an IPhone, you can download and read books, take calls, play games, email, check the internet, watch movies…and it all fits in your pocket! The screen is small, but still easy to read for adverage eyesight. The I Phone gets my vote!
